What is Instalift?
InstaLift is a procedure using dissolvable sutures which are implanted and positioned in the cheeks to instantly “lift” and anchor the mid-face in an elevated position. The sutures begin stimulating new collagen production while also holding the tissue in place until new collagen is produced. Once produced, new collagen engulfs the suture, allowing a process called biological fixation to take place. You can expect to see a tightening and smoothing of finer lines and wrinkles.
The benefit of a procedure which stimulates your body’s own collagen production is a long-lasting result. One of the most exciting things about this procedure, aside from the immediate improvement in skin laxity, is knowing that your results will last up to two years. We have seen that InstaLift is a game changer for patients. The patients we have treated so far have been beyond thrilled with their instant results and they tend to continue to see improvements over time.
How it Works?
Silhouette InstaLift is a minimally-invasive, resorbable suspension suture with bi-directional cones. The sutures lift and reposition subdermal tissue while the bi-directional cones hold the suture and facial skin in an elevated position. The suture and cone material are both made of glycolide / L-lactide (PLGA) which stimulate fibroblasts for gradual collagen maturation over time. They are specifically designed to reposition volume in the mid-face with the goal of a natural-looking result.
What makes InstaLift different from threadlifts of the past?
Threadlifts of the past were placed differently on the face and used nonabsorbable sutures with barbs to secure traction in the skin. This often caused unsightly pulling and visible tracks in the skin, or an unnatural appearance when the patient was smiling, moving their head, or talking. Due to its absorbable nature, area of placement, and depth of placement, Silhouette InstaLift should not be thought of as a “thread lift” or associated with complications from such procedures of the past. Furthermore, the sugar molecules that compose the InstaLift suture are different from Threadlift sutures of the past. InstaLift sutures are biodegradable, meaning they dissolve slowly over time. They do however, have the benefit of stimulating new collagen growth in the area of placement, enhancing the subtle but visible lifting results of InstaLift.
