- Quercetin: A flavonoid found in fruits and vegetables, possessing unique biological properties (including anticarcinogen, antioxidant, antiinflammatory, etc.) which may improve mental/physical performance and reduce infection risk.
- N-Acetyl Cysteine (600 twice daily): bonds with two other amino acids to create and replenish the most powerful antioxidant in your body, called Glutathione. These amino acids also help with chronic respiratory conditions, and may reduce the severity of pneumonia.
- Vitamin D (4000 IU twice daily): The presence of Vitamin D in the diet can regulate the body’s innate (normal functioning) and adaptive (in times of acute or situational stress) immune responses. Deficiency in vitamin D is associated with increased autoimmunity as well as an increased susceptibility to infection.
- Zinc (50 twice daily): Zinc is involved in numerous aspects of cellular metabolism, playing a role in immune function, wound healing, DNA and protein synthesis and cell division. It is important to maintain a steady supply of zinc in the diet, because the body does not posses a “built in” zinc storage system. Multiple studies have demonstrated the significant reduction of duration of cold symptoms with administration of zinc lozenges.
